Plagiarism & AI Writing Policy

Plagiarism

All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using industry-standard detection software. A similarity index above 20% (excluding references) will result in the manuscript being returned to authors without review.

Self-plagiarism — reusing significant portions of one's own previously published work without proper citation — is equally prohibited.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Writing Tools

CIJ acknowledges the growing use of AI language tools in academic writing and adopts the following policy:

  • AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) may not be listed as authors. Authorship requires accountability, which AI cannot assume.
  • Authors who use AI tools for drafting, editing, or summarisation must disclose this in the Methods or Acknowledgements section.
  • Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of AI-assisted content.
  • Use of AI to fabricate citations, data, or experimental results constitutes research misconduct.
